Benefits
As well as running with like minded people in a beautiful part of the country, membership also gives you
- Regular combined runs and social events
- Competition in the club championships
- Third party insurance cover when running with the club
Affiliation
We decided not to renew our club affiliation & individual athlete registration to England Athletics (EA) from 1 April 2023. Instead we affiliated to the Association of Running Clubs whose structure and approach better matches our club. The Association of Running Clubs (ARC) now provides our third party liability insurance in place of England Athletics. Affiliation to the Association of Running Clubs saves us money and we have reduced our membership fee.
When entering England Athletics licenced races as a member of Ashbourne RC you now have to enter as non-affiliated and pay the £2 surcharge. Insurance cover for races is not connected to your affiliation status as the race licence provides the insurance cover to all entrants whether affiliated, or not affiliated, or not even a member of a running club.
The Association of Running Clubs also issues race permits and Ashbourne RC members get the £2 reduction on ARC permitted races. However the vast majority of races are EA rather than ARC.
Run Britain and Power of 10 collect race stats from races with England Athletics (& the other national bodies within UKA) licences and you don't have to be a registered athlete at an England Athletics affiliated club for this to happen or continue.
Junior Members
Young persons between the ages of 15 and 17 years are most welcome as Junior Members of ARC. Junior Members must run with their parent or guardian or nominated responsible adult on club runs. Whilst every effort will be made to ensure their safety, the club cannot be held responsible for their safety, and the parent / guardian’s acknowledgement of this is required by signing the membership form.
